275 glass plate negatives (and prints), 17 photographic prints, 1 tintype, family letters and papers, map of San Francisco Earthquake area, 2 cameras, and darkroom equipment. The photographic collection, all of which has been digitized, consists of 293 images as follows: 86 of Mokelumne Hill, Calaveras County, California; 80 of the Electra Power Project; 60 of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake; 39 personal and family photographs (17 of which are prints and 1 tintype); 23 of Yosemite National Park; and 5 miscellaneous photographs. Edith is the photographer for 277 of these images and 16 are photographed by either an unknown or professional photographer.

Edith Irvine, 1884 1949, was born in the small mining community of Sheep Ranch, California, the second child of Thomas Hanna Irvine, a successful gold miner, and Mary Irene Hills. Her photographic efforts were largely unknown, except to family and friends, during her lifetime. She was an amateur photographer of considerable skill, but a school teacher by profession.
